Day 3 - You Know It's Bad When...

...I'll finish that statement a little later. For now, here's the day I've had:

I thought I was going to have a good day. I felt I started it off well at least. I had granola, milk, and iced coffee for breakfast. That was about 600 calories. Okay, I thought, eat like a king for breakfast... 600 calories fits that. It was about 11:30 this morning. Yes, I got up late!!!

I unwisely planned to stop off somewhere and get lunch before work. I ended up at Taco Bell. I got a #9 with a Diet Pepsi. (The combo numbers are pretty standard around here, so in case you don't know, that's a Crunchwrap Supreme and a taco.)

Work went by and after I was done I met my mom at the grocery store. I bought 4 boxes of cereal, milk, bananas, and a chunk of watermelon. I'm going to have a great breakfast tomorrow!

AFTER that is when it got bad. Well. Let me just say, it could have been worse.

Here's the end of the statement that is today's blog title:

...the drive thru worker at Jack in the Box knows you and likes you well enough that when he sees you, he gives you the employee discount!

I don't know whether to thank him or curse him! I know my wallet thanks him though. We chatted a little bit. He moved back to town and is going to school to be a CNA. Good for him!

He talked me into the Bonus Jack Combo that I had never tried. Have you seen the commercials? "Secret Sauce" scares me, but it's actually not bad tasting. Anyway... I had the Bonus Jack burger, small curly fries and a Diet Coke. Helloooooo fat.

Food is obviously going to be my biggest challenge. I think that the more often I eat at home, the fewer fatty foods I will eat.

As for moving my body, today I have done a little strength work (50 wall push-ups and 50 squats) and 150 jumping jacks. Not the best day, but more than yesterday.

Day 2 - Sore, Tired, and Still Kinda Sick (Don't Forget to Mention Food)

It's a little after 1pm here on Day 2. Since I figured out that I walked 3+ miles yesterday (in flip flops and after no exercise for 17 days) it makes sense that my hip flexors are a bit sore today. It actually feels kind of good. It's not the debilitating kind of sore, just that sweet feeling of knowing you worked. We'll see if that needs to change down the line. I want to see changes for sure and I'm not quite sure how sore I need to be to get there.

I got 7 hours of sleep and yet I am seriously dragging today. I thought a giant Diet Coke would help, and now I'm on to iced coffee (homemade). I still need to get in a workout. A walk this evening will probably be it, seeing as...

I'm STILL kinda sick. I got the flu a week ago today and I still cough up junk (TMI, I know) and have a runny nose. I wonder how long it will take to go away. The doctor said up to 2 weeks. I certainly hope not.

For breakfast I was "bad" and had McD's again. A burrito and half a Sausage McMuffin with Egg. Oh yes, and the Diet Coke that took me over 2 hours to finish. Heh. The iced coffee I'm having now is comprised of about 3/4c of nonfat milk and 1T of Nesquick (sp?) powder, ice and coffee.

Here are my "before" photos:

UPDATE:

I had another iced coffee and later had 3 Italian squashes, an ear of corn, some (2-3c) popcorn, a giant Light Lemonade, a Grilled Ranch Snackwrap, an order of small french fries, and a giant Diet Coke, and at some point some more baby tomatoes and a string cheese. At least I got veggies in!

As for exercise... I completed 100 jumping jacks (2 sets of 50, about 45 seconds per set). Honestly, my arms and outer thighs were starting to feel it at the end of each set! Haha!

Day 1 - 3 miles and junk food

I had 3 mini tomatoes when I got home... and now for the real update!

UPDATE:

So, I ate more junk. Lunch was McD's, a McDouble, small Fries, and about 20oz of Coke. When I got home after being around town I had 1.5c of granola with 1c nonfat milk, a mini Twix bar, and to top it all off... for dinner I had a cheeseburger and 3/4 of an order of fries at In-N-Out along with a large Diet Coke. WHOA NELLY.

Good news: I walked about 3 miles in the hot, hot heat down in San Diego this afternoon. My feet got a tan, too!

I'm glad to have gotten the exercise in. I didn't die and that's always good. I will rest well tonight.

I'll be working on a plan for tomorrow while doing my other chores tonight. Good luck to me!

T-minus 90 days

I started this blog to document my progress and training for 90 days before the MUD RUN on Camp Pendleton, just north of Oceanside, CA.

The MUD RUN is a 10k race through mud pits, up hills, across a river and all sorts of other things I don't even know about. I DO know that it is extreme and intense. This scares me!

I have basically been sedentary for 95% of the year thus far and haven't regularly exercised in several years. So here I am, a total couch potato on my way to participating in the 10k MUD RUN... in 90 days!

I will be posting what I eat and what exercises I do throughout these next 90 days. I didn't come up with the idea for blogging this until AFTER breakfast. Here are the remains of THAT meal:

It was a large Vanilla Iced Coffee and 2 Sausage Breakfast Burritos. I haven't tallied the calories, but I know that the burritos by themselves add up to 600 calories. EEK!

I am recovering from the flu bug that started me being sick last Sunday, July 12th. My exercise will not be vigorous until I am back to being well. Today's plan: go for a walk around the neighborhood this evening, about 1 mile.
